10″ Heavy Cut Airway Buffing Wheel – Metal Polishing

Built for the first, hardest stage of a polish job — cutting through oxidation, sanding marks, and light scratches fast on aluminium, stainless, and other non-ferrous metals. 16-ply cloth construction in the classic airway design gives aggressive cut without sacrificing balance or control, and the airway venting helps manage heat on longer runs.

How To Use: Mount the wheel with a matched 3″ safety flange to keep it balanced and secure. Apply the 439T compound to the wheel face, not the metal, and work in overlapping passes at moderate pressure — let the compound and wheel do the cutting rather than forcing it. Approximate starting speed is 3,500 RPM.

Wheel firmness changes the cut. This is the firmest wheel in the range, which is exactly what makes 439T cut as hard as it does. The same 439T bar on a yellow medium cut wheel cuts noticeably softer, and softer again on a natural untreated cotton wheel. Pick the combination that moves as much metal as the job actually needs — and no more.

One compound per wheel. Once this wheel has run 439T, keep it on 439T. Applying a different compound to a wheel that is already loaded contaminates the finish and undoes your finer stages.

Where it fits: heavy cutting is the starting point for badly oxidised, marked or freshly sanded metal. Not every job needs it — if the surface is already sound, you can start at a milder combination.
